What is Paintwork Reconditioning?
Paintwork Reconditioning is the process of removing embedded contaminants such as tar, brake dust, industrial fallout and other foreign debris that may cause a gritty feeling. It is also the removal of common defects such as: swirl marks, holograms, spider-webbing and micro-marring from the paint. By utilizing the latest in advanced diminishing and non-diminishing abrasives I am able to re-level paint so that these defects are completely removed. Once the defects are removed, the paintwork will be optically clear and reflecting the most amount of light possible for that incredible shine.

Why should I have my vehicle detailed?
Your vehicle is very much like your house, it requires ongoing maintenance. By having your car detailed by Park Avenue Detailing you can rest assured that your vehicle will be treated properly and will in the end help protect your investment. It is not uncommon for a vehicle to fetch additional dollars when trading in a freshly detailed vehicle or selling it privately. Owners want the new car appeal again, and all it takes is a trip to Park Avenue Detailing.
What separates Park Avenue Detailing from the rest?
Park Avenue Detailing is privately owned and operated by Paul Colasante. I believe in quality over quantity and will work until I am completely satisfied with the results. I use specially designed compounds and polishes along with the proper technique to achieve the look that Park Avenue Detailing is known for. The difference between Park Avenue Detailing and the other local shops is that I am not afraid to spend ten or more hours on any one car. By doing so, I am able to detail every aspect of your vehicle.
Why are your prices more expensive than the competition?
I feel that the level of quality offered by Park Avenue Detailing is what sets it apart from the competition. Most of my packages are priced out at $40.00 per hour. Detailing is an art, and no shortcuts are to be taken. I do not simply “wash” vehicles; I decontaminate and recondition the paintwork. Most places will charge you between $150.00 and $200.00 to hide swirl marks, which will return after the glazes wear off. Park Avenue Detailing specializes in actual paintwork reconditioning for a nominal difference and all of our clients feel that it has been money worth spending.
How are swirl marks created and how do I prevent them?
Any grit that is rubbed against the paint surface creates swirl marks and similar defects. Whether it’s using a dirty wash mitt, using a wash brush, using dirty microfiber towels, or wiping dust off the paint these all can create microscopic scratches that when visible in sunlight look like thousands of tiny scratches. Prevention of swirl marks and other defects comes from the proper technique when washing and carrying out any other paint maintenance such as waxing. I am more than happy to discuss options and proper techniques with my clients.
What if my vehicle is brand new? |
In my experience, even brand new vehicles can be improved. Vehicles are all subject to harsh conditions on their way to the dealership – whether it’s crossing the seas on a freighter or being transported on a train it is picking up contaminants, which embed themselves in the paintwork. Dealerships quickly prep the vehicle for delivery paying no attention to the swirl marks and rail dust that is common on new vehicles. A quick coat of wax is enough effort for the dealership. At Park Avenue Detailing, I strive to perfect every vehicle I touch and a new vehicle deserves this attention.
What brand of products do you use during your details? |
Park Avenue Detailing uses only the finest and most trusted products in the detailing industry. We use brands such as the Menzerna line of polishes, Optimum Polymer Technologies, Meguiars, FK, Detailer’s Pride, Blackfire, and Pinnacle just to name a few. Each vehicle is different so the process and product selection will vary for each vehicle. |
I’m not sure what my vehicle needs; can you help?
I would be more than willing to give a complimentary inspection of your vehicle discussing possible options and informing you of the outcome that is possible. Every car is different so each car gets looked at on an individual basis. Inspections can take place prior to an appointment or on the day of the booked appointment.
How long will you have my vehicle for?
My most common package, the Exterior Recondition Package takes on average around 6-8 hours. If it is needed, the client will be asked if the vehicle can be kept for an additional day to complete the work. I don’t rush my details because I want the best possible outcome for your vehicle. If more time is needed, then more time is needed. I ask that clients arrange their own transportation to and from my location.
How long will these results last?
The removal of the present defects is permanent. But, please keep in mind that improper washing techniques or a visit to the dealership and having them wash the car for you will most likely undo the reconditioned finish by creating new swirl marks and micro-marring. If your car is used daily it is inevitable that you will eventually create swirl marks either directly or indirectly. Park Avenue Detailing offers an Exterior Maintenance Package, which will help undo the damage created by frequent washings and restore that freshly detailed appearance.
